The Grimrose Girls by Laura Pohl
3.0

I liked…
-The diversity
-The mystery
-The setting

I’m not feeling…
-How the half black character’s plot is “my black father is an absentee parent who is never there for me and I must find him” (stereotypical but assume it will resolve in falling books)
-How the trans girl represents the ugly duckling fairy tale (it’s just…off to me)
-It felt like main characters didn’t discover who they were on their own - other side characters had to explain to them who they are/their inner demons/their flaws all the time

Will I read the next book?
I will but it’s not a “I can’t wait to read it - BE OUT ALREADY” type book compared to other sequels I’m waiting for.
