The Bromance Book Club
by Lyssa Kay Adams
I don’t understand all the hype this book gets.
This is the story of a whiny man baby who goes to a romance book club (except it’s really a PUA club) to try to fix his marriage (but really he manipulates/blackmails her wife into taking him back).
According to this book:
- It’s okay to ignore someone repeatedly telling you to leave them alone because “you love them”
- Manipulation is romantic
- Love essentially is physical attraction?
- Reading romance novels makes you really good at sex???
- Women’s nipples instantly get hard when they see abs?????
And this book is auto-proclaimed feminist. It very briefly addresses toxic masculinity and heteronormativity while never challenging the main character’s own, obvious toxic masculinity issues and making no effort to include queer people.
