Hex Hall

Reading this book was like going through a giant checklist of YA cliches. A sarcastic and "plain" main character? An outcast best friend? A group of bitchy mean girls? A swoon-worthy crush who's dating said mean girl? A school for magical children? A sinister threat to the magical world? Completely absent and also TERRIBLE parents? her dad is shit, and her mom also sucks. She lied to her daughter about everything!
I mean it was light and easy and not unenjoyable. But it was also really basic. It really felt, underdeveloped? Like there was a lot of wasted potential to go deeper. I mean... Lord Byron was her teacher!!! how could that not have been a more fun element to the book!!!!!
I loved Rebel Belle by this author, but it seems like her writing needed time to develop, so I guess I won't be finishing this series.
