Rebecca
by Daphne du Maurier
I enjoyed this book and can see why so many people seem to love it. The atmosphere of the story was very engrossing.
I really enjoyed that the narrator was unnamed and that we got to see her obsession with Manderly and Rebecca. I also really that the setting was so atmospheric.
Manderly is the home of Max de Winter and at the beginning of the story we learn that his wife mysteriously drowned in a sailing accident. While he is on a holiday in Monte Carlo he meets our narrator while she is a companion to an older American lady.
The relationship between Max de Winter and our narrator is never the kind of relationship I was hoping for but I do like that when everything was revealed that our narrator and Max stuck together through everything.
The ending was a little lack luster for me but I do understand why people love this book and this author. I look forward to reading more of her works in the future.
