The Breeders by Katie French

This wasn't horrible...
But I didn't enjoy it. The plot idea was really interesting, but the way it was written wasn't. I just felt really bored while reading this.
I was really interested in finding out more about The Breeders, and what happened to cause this world to be the way that it is, but I feel like there wasn't much of an explanation about it all. The was a whole back story on that, that was just skimmed over. It just felt like I was missing really important information.
Another reason I didn't really enjoy this much, was because of the way it was written. There wasn't anything exciting happening.
The characters were really selfish. They were more interested in saving their own butts than they were in fixing what was actually wrong in the world.
Especially the main character Riley, she just kind of let things happen to her. She didn't have any fire in her belly, or passion for anything. She was basically just kind of there. She wasn't the brightest.
She was supposed to be used to roughing it out in the wild, but I didn't see any evidence of that when they were on their own. She pretty much let Clay take the lead.
Clay was supposed to be a city boy, but he did do a semi-okay job at keeping them safe. But he wasn't interesting at all. I don't know how he and Riley developed a relationship. Because one minute they didn't get along too well, and the next they were together.
I think it mainly had something to do with the fact that Riley was a girl! Like that is the only reason they seem to be together.
I just have so many problems with this book. The more I think about it, the more I hate it.
