Was almost 3 but the twists in the last quarter elevated it. It really wasn’t hard to figure out who made the plans to kill the queens, but the assassin themselves? That took me by complete surprise. So yeah, I was alright with this and really liked the end! Also, finally, a fantasy standalone! Hopefully Scholte will get stronger and stronger with her future books.
