The major fact why I liked this book is that the three main characters are such ordinary characters. The author made a good job of making the characters ordinary and relatable. You can see the characters doing their everyday work like nobody’s business and you can also find them doing extraordinary things without advertising.

You can learn a lesson from each of the three main characters in this book. One stood up to her racist friends and even gave up her love of life for the values she believes in. One was willing to bring a change to her society even that means she has to lose her only livelihood. One risked her last family member and even her life in exchange for a terrible secret.

These three women could have been killed if they have been caught in that racist area. But they risked everything and did the inevitable. They brought the change in their society. Certain parts in the book were shocking to read. It changes the perspective of a person. You can see people struggling to get even their minimum wages for their work. You can see people get punished for using the same toilet as that of white people. You can see how cheap people get when it comes to their help.

This book taught me composure. This book taught me how to stand up for your values even that means you end up with no friends. This book taught me that just because your friends believe in something, you don’t need to. This book taught me that it will be difficult for standing up for your rights. But once you do, no one can stop you.

I can go on and on about this book. But these are the major reasons why do I recommend this book. I read this book as a part of #femmemarchfest conducted by @theliquidsunset in bookstagram. And I recommend this book to everyone who loves strong female characters.
