yawnsbooks 's review for:
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine
by Gail Honeyman
I enjoyed reading this book, but disagree with the many reviewers who have called the book "incredibly funny". I found nothing funny in this book.
I found the character of Eleanor to be incredibly realistic, but working through an incredible amount of pain, trauma, and mental illness, in a very authentic way.
I think that where people found humour in the novel, I found I was cringing or pitying the character during the same interactions. I think the scenes with mental health professionals to be very realistic portrayal especially Eleanor's reactions in the settings.
I got chills during the ending.
