Crenshaw
by Katherine Applegate
Goes without saying that it is very well written. Homelessness is a tough subject to touch on and this story was honest and straightforward. Yes this tale involves an imaginary friend but being from the viewpoint of a child it feels so real. His thought process is genuine and although more grownup than you'd expect, it is also very much still the views of a child. Growing up is hard enough. Growing up with uncertainty of stability is even harder but Jackson does just that. With a little unexpected help.
