This story is a metaphor for who even the smallest thing said by another can make someone feel like less of a person. Gisbert is a very tall and beautiful giraffe. But small things said by new classmates make him shrink. Each day they keep adding on, and he gets smaller and smaller. I think this book would be a great way to help kids understand their feelings, and talk about them. I think it can help them realize that their feelings are real, and understood by others, and that there are ways to help these feelings and grow tall again.
