Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters: The Graphic Novel
by Robert Venditti, Rick Riordan
After very much enjoying the graphic novel version of The Red Pyramid, I thought I'd try another of the Riordan graphic novel adaptations I got out of the library. Unfortunately I was much less impressed with this one. The events felt too quick and underexplained, to the extent that I wonder whether someone who has not read the novel would actually be able to understand what is going on. The art style did not appeal to me, and the characters, who are mostly supposed to be preteens and teenagers, look in many of the pictures like adults in their thirties and even forties (especially Tyson). It's readable mostly because it's based on a decent book, but I found it disappointing.
