I really liked the feel of this book. The author did a good job transporting you to the hills of Kentucky. This book is very sad throughout and there are so many things in it that make me angry. The discrimination of people who are "colored" is disgusting, especially when it's done by well-read librarians. However, it's realistic and reminds readers of the power of books and kindness.
