I can’t say I enjoyed this, but it was so well made I can’t NOT give it a high rating.

The art is moody and atmospheric. It manages to evoke retro comic book character designs, which was kinda cool because of the comic era this was inspired by (It takes place in the 60s too). The over all art style is a little more sketchier than my ideal, but it’s very close.

I think the disconnect for me comes my general disinterest in the characters. Sabrina was an okay heroine, but I can’t say I was rooting for her. To be honest, it hard to know what I was supposed to want to happen. If they wanted me to root her her and Harvey’s relationship, then they shouldn’t have made him such a boring character. If they wanted me to root for to pursue her journey into witch-hood, I’m not sure I could ever could do that because these witches literally worship Satan. I’m not against stories about dark witch who pursue evil ends. However, I find the satanism presented here to be mostly for shock value and it kinda took me out of it. It’s a little tongue in cheek, but still. (In general, I tend to be pretty sceptical when real world religions are used in fantasy story lines. I usually find it annoying.)

Believe it or not, the best character in this for me was the villain, Madam Satan. She the one who motivates the plot. She has a history with Sabrina’s mother and father. Personally, I found the scenes about that to be the most interesting and it’s why I am looking forward to the next volume.
