This One Summer by Mariko Tamaki
4.0

It's more inline with a 3.5 but I'ma bump it up to a 4 because I LOVED the art.

This is a coming of age story that focuses on one summer and one girl's point of view. As you progress you can see how her life isn't as simple as it seems. It becomes really sad as it goes on but that's life. You take the sad with the good. The bad with the happy. So it balances itself out.

Forewarned this has a ton of cursing but I actually loved it. it seems like actual kids/teenagers talking. I hate when the kids don't curse, because kids DO curse, even if you parents don't know about it. Sorry to tell ya.

I also loved the talks of sex and want, and the start of love, and the repercussions. There's so many good things to take a look at here. Even more so it's a female's views. I know boy's views, I grew up as one (haha) but I'm not a women and I don't get to see that point of view. Now I get a glimpse and it's entertaining if not tragic at times. Least this storyline.

I'd recommend this one to anyone who enjoys coming of age stories. It does a pretty solid job!
