thoughts to mention with mel:
- i love wes SO MUCH. honestly the best part of this whole book
- which brings me to my next point: i liked wes way more than liz, which was disappointing. it felt like he was the star and she was the vessel for the love story. like we learn to love her through his eyes, even though she's the main character. she also just was not a good friend and her whole "i'm weird and quirky" thing felt forced at times
- the writing was ... immature at times. like. embarrassingly so. and the stupid nicknames made me CRINGE
- loved all the music references!! but i do think it dates this book a LOT and it's gonna be completely irrelevant soon
- liked helena and she was honestly the coolest character
- writing this i'm wondering if i should drop my rating? i don't want to though because WES
- also enjoyed all the rom com references because obviously! i know my brand!
- overall was super fun but has its flaws for suuure
- gonna stick with 4* because i love wes enough to mostly make up for all the things i didn't like about it
