Icebreaker by Hannah Grace
4.5
emotional lighthearted medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

First, I was very pleasantly surprised at the diversity in this book, though mentioning all the characters like that did make it feel somewhat forced or like in your face about it.
I liked the forced proximity of the skating rink but Stassie made choices that led her to run into Nate. Their first scene was everything! Anastasia’s comment about men on their knees and Nate “I care about consent”  HOT! But  all of their scenes were.
I loved the group of hockey boys and more as the book went on, they’re all so lovable! Henry is a fav of course. Kinda sad that he never got a girl despite his efforts. JJ with his manipulative ass when he wanted his flowers, I could not! That was so precious! Sabrina and Robbie were insanely cute too!
I never trusted Aaron from the beginning! I knew he secretly liked her and was jealous. He might not have meant to underfed her but he was def trying to control her weight with his groans and comments to keep her looking how he wants/likes in women. His constant blame of her and his gaslighting made him dislike him more each time. Stars did not deserve that at all! The kiss should not have been the final straw but she was too trusting and dependent on him.
The end kind of slowed down once they were together but the competition made it interesting again.
I didn’t really like the epilogue when she felt pregnant, but it kind of sweet. I would prefer to see each of them accomplishing their dreams, the gold medal and the champion cup instead of the post.
