City of Glass
by Cassandra Clare
This started off and quite frankly, could have been the make or break of the series. However, I came out of it really pleased and it’s definitely my favourite in the series so far.
The first two books were lots of character and world building. I’m so glad we were finally away from that.
For at least half of these book, I was fed up of Jace. His teenage angst. His rashness, selfishness, his belief that it’s easier to hurt people than just have an honest conversation with them. Although, he did begin to grow on me a bit more later on and honestly, I hope it continues in that direction if he plays a part in future books. Which I imagine as such a central character in these first 3, he will.
Clary definitely seemed to have matured a lot as a character in this one and while we did experience some teenage angst on her behalf, it was much less.
I feel like we got to experience so much more of the Shadowhunter world in this book and it was thoroughly enjoyable! I look forward to continuing the series.
