The Austere Academy
by Lemony Snicket
A series of unfortunate events was the first book series I read, so this author and series holds a great significance to me. All of the books were great in this series, however they did get monotenous after about 11/13 books. But, this book was number 5 in the series and added humour into the newly begun plot. Mr. Snicket added in bits of quirky humour to children which they could relate to: a dodgy teacher. I'm sure everyone has had somewhere along the line a bad teacher, and this book takes it to the extreme. He also represents their anxiety for school brilliantly by Violet and Klaus' reaction to heading to school once again after another unfortunate event.
Overall this is a brilliant book in the series, and if you already haven't make sure to read this series from Book 1: The Bad Beginning
I like how Snicket portrays Olaf as evil and clever and witty unlike the film adaptations. The Netflix series comes closer to how Olaf is presented which is nice, as it shows how cunning he actually is. The adults are useless though, Poe is lovely but useless.
