Mary Poppins
by P.L. Travers
I have had PL Travers' original version of Mary Poppins on my to-read list since Saving Mr. Banks and learning how different her version was allegedly from the movie...Must admit, I prefer the movie. The overt classism (understandably part of the times, but even so) was particularly irksome. I did not enjoy this book much. Also, Mary Poppins is NOT a likable character. She is rude, condescending, and downright nasty to her charges much of the time. It is not endearing.
