The House Across the Lake
by Riley Sager
4.5/5 stars
Just over a year ago, actress Casey Fletcher’s husband drowned in Lake Greene. Forced back to the family lake house after a drinking binge that left her as tabloid fodder, Casey is forced to deal with the very lake where she lost her husband. Not long after arriving Casey saves the life of the woman living in the house across the lake, Katherine. Curious about the life of the supermodel across the lake, Casey starts spying on Katherine and her husband … and may see more than she bargained for.
I love Riley Sager’s books because they are so uniquely his. I wasn’t exactly sure the turn this one was going to take because it started off like a pretty basic mystery book. I was a little worried that it was going to be on the boring side. But it took a left turn that I did not see coming and I loved it.
It was a wtf moment to start but I ended up loving how he developed the story after the twist. When it first happened I was a little worried I wasn’t going to like it still but I couldn’t put the book down and kept wondering what was going to happen next!
Now I’m a little bummed I’m going to have to wait at least another year before I get to read another Riley Sager book …. Hopefully he’s got something good in the works!
