The Princess Saves Herself in This One
by Amanda Lovelace
2.5
I wish the poems in this book were longer to allow for more complex topics to be discussed. There were some interesting parts to the poems but then they abruptly ended. I enjoyed the trapped princess motif the collection had. But I wish we explored more of the topics the poem talks using that motif, especially during the second half of the book, where it felt like that had been forgotten a bit. The use of more literary devices to enhance this motif would have been great. This was still really easy to read which makes it accessible for readers who might feel daunted to get into poetry. And of course my opinion doesn't really matter, and all types of poetry need to exist in the world, the ones that we like and the ones that we dislike, in order for reading to be fun and un-monotonous.
