Not a new favorite, but still good. Honestly the writing is a lot more simple than I’ve gotten used to in the YA that I read, it feels a lot more middle grade for me. I still liked it though, Alina’s an endearing character and I cared about her. I’ll be reading the next two books, if mostly just because I want more of the Grishaverse world, and because I’m curious as to how she became a Saint (as we know from Six of Crows). Mal's... not my favorite, and I agree with a lot of the reviews criticizing him, but honestly I don't really care. I really like the magic system and the world, but it's Six of Crows that really made me fall in love with Grishaverse.
