The Girls at 17 Swann Street
by Yara Zgheib
This was a very heartfelt story with a very heavy subject matter!
This debut novel follows Anna, a ballet dancer from Paris, who's career comes to an end due to an injury. She follows her husband Matthias to America for his career and succumbs to her disease- anorexia.
She checks into a treatment facility-17 Swann Street at the insistence of Matthias. There she finds herself overwhelmed with what she will have to confront and eat to help combat her disease. She finds some allies in the other girls in the house who help coax her and guide her in the things she needs to do to help herself.
I love the way this story is written. It's in a different style than a lot of novels and I agree with a lot of other reviews that I've read that it's really lyrical and beautiful.
