That Weekend
by Kara Thomas
Three friends on a secret trip to a lake house. One wakes up alone and bloody on a hiking trail with no memory of what happened. The other two are missing.
Claire wakes up in the woods by herself with no memory of what happened over the past 48 hours. All she knows is that her best friends, Kat and Jesse, were with her and now they’re missing.
I figured out the twists here early on but I still really enjoyed this one. I listened to the audiobook and it was very well done. The past and present POVs were well done and allow the story to unfurl in a way that works well with the amnesia angle. Overall, if you enjoy YA mysteries and tales of teenagers behaving badly then this one’s for you. Lots of secrets, angst, manipulation, family drama and more that I won’t get into bc spoilers but things get crazy and there are definitely some triggers in this one. If you want to know more about the triggers before reading feel free to message me. I’m happy to share but I won’t do that here bc it would definitely interfere with the plot twists.
