The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda

4.5/5 stars!
I thought the start of the book was a little slow and it took me longer to get into the book. But once the story really got rolling I couldn’t put it down!
When two worlds collide it’s hard to remember which side you belong to. Avery, the local, got swept up into the life of the Loman’s when she befriended Sadie. Now, years later Sadie is dead and nothing about her death sits right with Avery. A suicide, they said... but that just wasn’t Sadie. Now Avery gets swept up into her own investigation that reminds her just how little she meant to the world she got swept up in.
Great characters, loved the setting! I thought the beginning was a little choppy but it all started to tie together nicely in the end. It was also refreshing to have a main character who wasn’t 1) in love with the bad guy and 2) drunk all the time
I feel like that’s been the theme with a lot of psychological thrillers lately and I liked that Avery had a troubled past but had pulled herself together into a respectable person. I’ve read a few too many books like this where the MC likes to indulge in a beverage or two.
All in all, a solid read!
Thank you so much to Simon and Schuster for sending me a copy to read and review!
