bahareads 's review for:
The Annotated Pride and Prejudice
by David M. Shapard, Jane Austen
(2014) This is my second time reading Pride and Prejudice. I really enjoyed reading this version. (The annotated P&P.) It gave me a better understanding of the story and that time period.
I love Darcy and Elizabeth, misunderstanding and all.
I also enjoyed Jane's sweetness. (even the naivete was a bit annoying)
We all know Lydia was just plain annoying. (which is partly the fault of Mr. & Mrs. Bennet, she needed so more 'brought-upisy'.)
Mr. Bennet, I loved, even though he should have been more serious on certain subjects.
Mrs. Bennet.. We have a love/hate relationship.
Mary & 'Kitty' eh background characters.
all in all I just really loved this book. And if you haven't read it you should.

(2020)
“I cannot fix on the hour, or the spot, or the look or the words, which laid the foundation. It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.”
What can be said on the subject that has not been said before? Jane Austen is an author to be praised, her writing is everything that has got it to be where it is today. The annotated version of Pride and Prejudice has everything a modern person needs to understand the nuances of the story more in-depth. All of the characters add to the story, not one character is dud. Pride and Prejudice is very character driven and it helps bring the story to life.
