My Morning Routine: How Successful People Start Every Day Inspired
by Benjamin Spall, Michael Xander
I didn't expect that this would revolutionize my life or anything, but I was hoping for just a bit of inspiration to rebuild my morning routine as I spend the foreseeable future stuck at home all day every day. But I found myself mostly annoyed as various interviewees humblebragged or not-so-humblebragged and/or pontificated on the merits of meditation, reading, delaying or immediately starting on emails, getting enough sleep, and other such revolutionary habits.
While the subdivison of interviews (exercise, evening routines, parenting, etc.) might seem to make sense, in practice it didn't work because every interview covers every aspect; I also found the introductory and "over to you" sections were more repetitive than useful, and the little blurbs for each morning routine ("When your morning requires three Starbucks Frappucinos," "When your kids are the light of your life," etc.) seemed to be trying too hard to be funny or cutesy, to the point of sometimes misrepresenting the interviewee's priorities/values.
