What I appreciate: each book in this series attempts something a bit different from
the last in terms of setting, protagonist’s POV, narrative arc, and conflict .

What I am ambivalent about: using DSM-5 mental disorders to bring unusual characters to life in unusual settings - I recently read Matthew Iden’s Winter Over (2017) which employs a similar technique . . . taken to extremes I’m not sure I’m the right reader for that kind of set up
