As a satirical work, it was certainly thought-provoking. I found it interesting how Lewis has said in interviews that he did not enjoy writing Screwtape at all; I can see why. Confronting my own corruption as an atheist doesn't have quite the same effect, but the characterization of what it means to be Christian and what it means to be a good person is, in this case, somewhat interchangeable.
