A book like this can show you how little you know about something that gets discussed so much. Israel and Palestine are discussed as ideas, as something not fully realized. At least, that's how they come across to me in the U.S. In his book, Delisle humanizes Israel and Palestine by showing a year of everyday life. He exposes you to the beauty and the stress of living there. You get to see just how different it is based on what we know. This was amazing, and I feel like I learned so much from it. I want to read his other books now!
