I liked the little told story of the Donut Dollies and it was full of great information on what they experienced and saw. Also loved the friendship between Dorothy and Irene.

However I did not care for the writing style. It read like a nonfiction most of the time - very narrative based, info-heavy and distanced - and the dialogue was stilted and odd, quite often no more than a handful of words for each person in a single sentence. I’m glad I listened to the audio because it was just a bit dry to get thru.

If you’re looking for a different fictional account of the Dollies that was more immersive, The Beantown Girls was a great read.
