An epic tale of interspecies war, romance, family, ghosts, assassins, and trees that become rocket ships. I loved the framing device of the child born on the first page narrating the story through handwritten notes explaining details and dropping hints about the future. It's a magical and engrossing story; I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting.
