Shadowed Heart

2.5 stars.
I liked a lot about this book. I liked the idea of a female serial killer, I liked that the author really leaned into all of the characters kinks and let them be as nasty and depraved as they wanted to be. Nothing was held back, which I think works well for the story.
My issue was definitely more to do with the writing. I think it needed another round or two of edits, like maybe it was rushed out. It could definitely have done with some tidying up. There were a lot of phrases that were repeated, sometimes on the same page all the way through the book. When the characters were inner monologing the thoughts were repetitive and seemed there just to fill the pages. I also felt like the book wasn't a complete story in itself, but maybe that is the way it was intended.
I think the book had lots of potential and I think they are on kindle unlimited so I'll probably give book 2 a go and see what I think.
