While I haven’t actually read the classic, The Secret Garden, I’m at least familiar with the story. Without a working knowledge of the story, you will miss some significance and plot elements. Here, the racist tones, like, the backstory of Mary’s time in India, have been omitted while everything else stayed the same. I found the artwork very charming. On the other hand, and what else can you do with the source material, these kids are complete and utter brats.
