This is the sequel to House of Earth and Blood and its just as good as its predecessor. Bryce and Hunt are trying to live a normal life after the events of the last book. However, they end up being dragged into a rebel movement. Reluctantly, Hunt, Bryce and their friends end up getting deeper involved.
I loved Bryce and Hunt’s relationship, it seemed like the most grown-up relationship Sarah J Maas has written. All the relationships in this book are well written. As their development continues, you start to get even more invested in their individual stories. The story is very gripping, I read it in just two days and couldn’t stop turning the pages. There was also some very funny moments, especially if Ruhn and his roommates were involved. Sarah J Maas fans will not be disappointed, and the ending alone was brilliant.
Throughout the book I did find myself starting to dislike Danika. The way she was portrayed seemed as if she didn’t care or trust Bryce at all.
You definitely had to have read the last book and other Sarah J Maas books to understand this book. However, if you are a big fantasy and romance lover, I suggest reading the Crescent City series.
