I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews towards this book, but I really enjoyed it! (I’m glad of that, since I got an expensive edition lol). It was definitely a relatively slow paced fantasy, definitely more Adult genre in that way. TCP trilogy was fast paced and swept you up. It’s the kind of series you read in one sitting and fly through. Book of Night makes you steep in the story.
It’s nothing like TCP. Pacing, plot, world, romance. It’s it’s own book—it shouldn’t be expected to be the same. But I think a lot of people went into it expecting the same fast paced romantic and YA-style writing vibe, only to be disappointed when they didn’t find it here.
But I think if you allow it to stand on its own, and you’re okay with a slower paced read, I highly recommend it.
