I really enjoyed the first half of the book but the ending was disappointing. I wanted the witches to be good guys in the end, to be redeemed because of the horrible abuse they were treated with, and for them to resurrect and lead Bethel to a more peaceful and harmonious way of life. Multiple times Imanuelle commented on the abused women undergo in Bethel but at the end the same system is still in place. Ezra will still become the prophet. Even though she comments on the end about how nothing is changing and they are repeating the same cycle there is no real attempt to change anything. And again, I wanted the witches to rise forth and make a lesbian paradise.
