This could be a personal problem as I haven't read the previous books in the series, but this did start out as a bit overwhelming. There were quite a few characters that were hard to get a grasp on and multiple POVs that I tried to follow. That issue aside, it worked fine as a standalone. I really enjoyed the characters and the coziness, and I thought the author did a good job piecing together the mystery.
