coris 's review for:
Halfway There
by Eve Langlais
Seriously disappointing. Came for the menopause, read because "it can't really be this bad, can it?", reviewing because "yes, yes it was."
I'm fine with the arc of doormat characters "finding themselves", but this book's MC doormat never figured anything out. Perhaps if she spent a bit less time in self-loathing and internalised fatphobia, she'd be doing better -- as would I, the unlucky reader. Quite mystifying how she has not 1, not 2 but 3 love interests floating around.
The plot is also Not Good -- each step is dragged out so far that the whole thing feels like a prequel for the book you actually want to be reading.
Definitely not continuing with the series.
