The Awakening by Susanne Valenti, Caroline Peckham
2.0

Darcy and Tory are living hard lives and don’t know how they are going to keep a roof over their head. They are twins and they will do anything to get money. One night they find out they are Fae and have been accepted into Zodiac Academy on a Fae world. They find out they are princesses and have a claim to the throne. But, first they need to get through the academy. However, not everyone agrees with their claim to the throne and the Heirs and teachers will do anything to get them to back down and not go to the academy.

Well, this series is super popular and is on kindle unlimited. I wanted to read it due to the hype. I have to really admit, I had the worst time reading this book. This book is known as a bully romance and I thought I would be fine. I never been triggered by a book (I have my triggers in life though), but this freaking book triggered me so freaking bad! I wanted to cry so much and felt my depression ebbing in my mind and there was time I just sat there and just felt horrible. I had a hard time wanting to pick this book up and read it. It actually took me over a month to finish it because it was very hard for me to read. I mean the bullying is so extreme and some events would not happen in our world, but I will admit I was bullied/teased a lot growing up in elementary school and then in my church I attended as a teenager. The bullying was not horrible, but it really killed my self-esteem and I get triggered when I am teased, but this book made me think of my own trauma and feel so bad for Darcy and Tory, even though the handled their bullying very well. This just put a bad taste in my mouth. I may read the next book to see if it gets better, but it may be down the road.
