I enjoyed the first book in this series, A Forest Between Us, and was excited to read this second book where we would get Owen’s sister Kristen’s story. It was definitely fun spending time with her kids and family, the kids stole the show in so many scenes. I loved the connection between Kristen and Eli. Although I feel that as with the last story, I was missing a little bit about Eli’s past to fill in some of his reluctance.
But it wasn’t bad enough that it affected the story at all. Because it wasn’t just Kristen’s connection with Eli, but he was perfect with her kids. I loved how they fell for him right away, even just as a roommate. One thing Jamie said about Eli really cracked me up because it was very similar to something my dad used to say when I was a kid. Jamie says Eli would punch a T-Rex in the throat, and my dad used to always say he’d punch it in the nose, lol.
As with the last one, friends and family made such a great background, extra part of the story. It also means I can’t wait for the next sibling’s story, which I believe is later this year. Another aspect I had an issue with was how long they kept holding out, but it wasn’t too bad. I liked the way that Eli figured out the solution to the seemingly unavoidable end date for their relationship. Anyway, another great read for me, and I hope you’ll give it a try!
