Speak: The Graphic Novel
by Laurie Halse Anderson
Every time I read this story, I feel so much. Melinda’s story is one of resilience, of finding her voice to speak about the trauma she experienced.
The art is absolutely stunning. I took some pictures of my favorite pages that I may post up on my blog. The illustrations capture emotions brilliantly, leaving me breathless and like a rock is lodge in my throat.
I love this story so much for what it stands for, for what it has accomplished in conversations about rape and rape culture. It is a resilient story, one that transcends through time.
