This book helped me realize I may just be growing out of teen/YA stories. The story itself and overall writing was fine, and there were aspects I enjoyed (specifically with scenes that happened right around the ending) but I felt the world-building was lacking and a bit simplistic for me. I wasn’t sold on the romance or the love interest, either. But, again, the ending made me excited for the sequel so hopefully that one pans out better.
