I wish that the main character wasn’t so underestimated. It is clear that her upbringing has giving her a set of tools to understand how dangerous these monsters are. And it’s upsetting that these adults won’t see the danger that’s happening right in front of them. But it’s also very parallel with today’s world and how often time we don’t believe children when they say that monsters exist. For them causing children to think that their voice or their voices doesn’t matter. Often times ignoring the times when they say that someone has hurt them. This volume is a constant reminder that we need to listen to children, we need to protect them, and we should never put them in positions where they are scared and don’t know who to trust.
