I saw the movie couple of months ago and didn't like it that much (or at least I couldn't understand the hype), but to be honest I didn't understand the meaning of heptapods' language and its difference to ours. The original story is much clearer about it and I think I know what the author meant at last. I guess the physics explanation helped a lot, I have no idea why they omitted it in the movie. Anyway, the story is great and reading about a relationship between language and human perception of the world was highly interesting.
