Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I initially gave 4 stars to this book once I finished it because I thought a lot of people may like it, given its popularity already. But on second thought, I don't think I should bring this rating to a 4 when it isn't one for me.

I enjoyed this book, especially by the second half of it when it picked up some speed. I think the way it is really original and probably its strength for the many readers who loved it HOWEVER, this style of writing it's also its great weakness.

I loved the story, I loved the characters as well but for me, it was hard to really connect with them or get very invested in their lives until the book was basically over. Why? Because without the descriptions and the thoughts a character may have within a scene, you lose that bonding experience with the characters. I understand that this way, you can get a full picture of a scene depending on the different point of views of all those that were involved but I still prefer a more traditional type of books that is not only dialogue but also everything that is in between those words. What about body language, for example?

Again, I understand why this is a favorite book for many people but I do not think this will be loved by everyone out there, especially those that love to connect with the characters within the book. I don't think that's impossible with this book because I did end up caring about them but, I do think it's harder to do so and it's also harder to understand them and trying to put yourself in their shoes because what you are given are just their memories and their thoughts on them now that years have passed between the interviews and the actual events.
