Swamp Thing, Volume 7: Season's End
by Charles Soule
Swamp Thing TV show is out in 2 days (when I'm writing this) so I decided to finally finish the last volume of my collection.
Swamp Thing is just doing his training, be a cool dude, when a new "race" I guess you can call them comes to be. The Rot, The Green, The Red, and more have shown themselves. Now? Now we have the MACHINES! They want everything to run smooth and do it their way. They even off Swamp Thing a way out of his responsibilities. When he refuses they turn to a new idea, a Avatar for themselves, and what is the ultimate weapon? The ones who want revenge on swamp thing.
This is a great finisher. Some single issues between the main machine storyline work real well too. Some hard hitting ones about letting go, saying goodbye, changing who you are, and more. All the themes I wanted in Swamp Thing. I also thought the machine storyline was great and always gripping with a big bad that actually scared me. The last issue was a bit rushed and didn't fit the pacing of the rest of the volume though.
Overall, a great ending to a pretty solid series. While not always amazing for me, there were some really great volumes. This is one of them. A 4 out of 5.
