Batman: The Long Halloween
by Jeph Loeb
After see "The Batman" (Really dug it) I decided to go back and give the Long Halloween another chance. I really didn't like it the first time I read it but this time...it was just okay.
The story has a more detective slowburn feel to it. There's some great moments like Harvey and the crew all sitting around trying to take down the big bad. Love seeing Batman interact with normal people to try and do justice. I also really enjoyed Dent in here, he had a lot of layers, and some interesting twist.
The ending seems kind of shoehorned in, and I was NOT a fan of the "villains" here as they were typical mobster types and felt no pity for them dying. The story tries to keep a mystery but the mystery goes on way too long.
Also I might be the only human in the world who's not a big fan of the art style. Just not my jam.
Saying that it is decent, fun, better than I remember, but nowhere near the best Batman stories for me.
