I haven’t read a horror book in a really long time and I was honestly tempted to pick this one up because Hannah had also gotten it off hold at the library!! The beginning of the book was a little hard for me to follow but I think that was a me problem, not anything to do with the writing - I tend to be a really impatient reader and sometimes read too quickly for my own good. I loved that I couldn’t tell where this book was going - every page really did feel like a surprise. This book also provided insight into modern Rez life in a way that wasn’t patronizing or touristy - it was a Native story with Native characters in a Native setting that happened to be really f*cking scary.
