This was just...okay. It was fun, but it didn't blow my mind. It was cute and had a simple plot but I didn't really connect to the characters all that much. To me it felt kind of like a Hallmark movie in book form: a good way to pass the time, but nothing mind-blowing.

Also just a note: There are two throwaway references to Harry Potter, which I really could have done without. They added nothing to the plot and were completely unnecessary. It just left a bad taste in my mouth, and I feel like we should be moving away from referencing that series in every magic-related piece of media
